Health Benefits of Walking

Walking is one of the easiest ways to be physically active and has so many health benefits.  You don’t need exercise equipment or an expensive gym membership, just a pair of comfortable walking shoes.  Walking on a regular basis can have the following benefits:

  • Lowers high blood pressure
  • Reduces anxiety and depression
  • Lowers risk of heart disease, stroke, colon cancer and diabetes
  • Boost your mood
  • Feel more energetic
  • Sleep better
  • Manage your weight
  • Improves flexibility of joints and muscles

Aim for 30 minute walks, five times a week.  It can even be broken up into two 15-minute sessions.
